tonight i have finally experienced what is so far the worst feeling i have ever felt:
after failing to resucitate an ICU patient that i’ve been taking care of for the past week, then breaking the news to the family and watching them tearfully arrange for the funeral, they come over and smilingly say “thank you”.
i kind of want to take off my scrubs, go home, and cry myself to sleep, thank you very much.
